About The Speaker
Oley Sassone
Producer @ La. Producers
Oley Sassone’s career auspiciously began playing guitar in a band in New Orleans where he was immersed in a world of diverse musical influences, including African, Haitian, Cajun, Soul, Jazz, Blues and New Orleans Funk. Oley’s first music video for CBS Records took him to Los Angeles where he directed, co-produced and shot over 100 more for such artists as Eric Clapton, Bonnie Raitt, Gloria Estefan, John Lee Hooker, Jerry Lee Lewis, Robert Cray, Celine Dion, and Mister Mister. Additionally, he worked as a successful Director/DP on multinational TV commercials. His first dramatic film as a director/writer/producer, THE ROOMMATE with Bill Paxton, premiered at Sundance. His writing skills continued with Disney's theatrical film WILD HEART’S CAN’T BE BROKEN, followed by directing three feature films for Roger Corman, one of which became the cult classic -- the original FANTASTIC FOUR. Writing multiple TV movie scripts resulted in the Lifetime Network Movie CRADLE OF LIES that Oley also directed, and which was a huge success overseas. He directed episodic television for ten years and TV movies for executive producers Sam Rami, Gayle Ann Hurd, Joel Silver and many others, shooting in a variety of worldwide locations for notable networks and studios such as CBS, FOX, MGM TELEVISION, UNIVERSAL, and WARNER BROTHERS. Returning to his roots in New Orleans, Oley immersed himself in writing New Orleans-based stories and screenplays. After extensive research, he has written a ten-part series based on Louis Armstrong’s popular music and incredible life - entitled LOUIS and is in pre-production on a “jazz thriller”, GABRIEL’S HORN that Oley wrote and will direct.
